Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 pounds Boneless Flanken ⓘ
- 1 Large Onion, Diced
- 6 cloves Garlic, sliced ⓘ
- 28 ounces Canned Crushed Tomatoes
- 4 and 1/2 cups Converted Rice ⓘ
- 1 quart Chicken Soup ⓘ
- 3 cups Water ⓘ
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper ⓘ
- 1/2 cup Oil ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons MSG free soup Base ⓘ
Instructions
- In a 6-8 quart pot heat oil and sear flanken heavily on both sides
- Remove Flanken to plate
- Brown diced onion in pot. During the last 2 minuted add garlic
- Add soup and crushed tomatoes. Heat over medium flame.
- Cube Flanken add to pot and bring mixture to simmer.
- Add Rice, return to simmer. Rice will look dry
- Add salt and pepper and soup base to taste
- Set crock pot to low. Spray liner with Pam. Add rice mixture. Pack down lightly. Add water.
- The rice will look very dry and the edges will be very dark. You may need to add water from a kli rishon. Do not depend on this lchatchilah
