Homemade soft pretzels with a golden crust and chewy interior, topped with coarse salt. Perfect for kids' baking projects or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. lite salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Egg Beater
  • nonfat cooking spray
  • coarse salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 1 1/2 cups warm water.
  3. Add 4 cups flour, lite salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, knead the mixture well with your hands.
  5. Roll pieces of dough into desired shapes.
  6. Place the shaped dough on a cookie sheet sprayed with nonfat cooking spray.
  7. In a small bowl, beat Egg Beater.
  8. Brush the tops of the dough with the beaten Egg Beater.
  9. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake the pretzels at 425°F for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
