Pear Liqueur

Ingredients

  • 3 pears
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 orange (peel only, sliced)
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 whole peppercorn

Instructions

  1. Remove seeds from the pears and dice them.
  2. Put the diced pears, orange peel, cloves, coriander, cinnamon, peppercorn, and vodka into a large glass jar.
  3. Cover the jar and place it in a cool area for two weeks.
  4. After two weeks, strain the mixture and discard the pear pieces, orange peel, cloves, and peppercorn.
  5. Return the strained mixture to the jar.
  6. Dissolve the sugar in the water, then add this syrup to the strained mixture.
  7. Cover the jar and let it sit for another two weeks.
  8. Transfer the finished liqueur into smaller bottles for gift giving or storage.
  9. Keep refrigerated or freeze for long-term storage.
  10. Enjoy this mild, sweet liqueur over vanilla ice cream.
