Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2/3 c. Crisco
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 Tbsp. ice water

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in Crisco using a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water a little at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together and feels moist but not wet when pressed between fingers.
  4. Divide the dough in half and roll out each portion approximately 1/8 inch thick, about 1/2 at a time.
  5. Loosely place the dough in a pie pan and trim the edges.
  6. When placing the top crust on the filling, moisten the edges with water.
  7. Press to seal, trim excess dough, and flute the edges.
  8. Handle the pastry as little as possible after adding water to prevent shrinkage.
