Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • lump of butter

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, flour, egg yolks, and milk in a saucepan. Cook over low heat until the mixture starts to bubble.
  2. Continue cooking until thickened; remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla, stirring until well combined.
  3. Pour the custard into a baked pie shell.
  4. Make meringue from egg whites and spread over the filled pie.
  5. Bake or brown lightly until meringue is golden.
