- Boil together butter oil and water
- Add flour until a soft workable dough has been made
- Use 1/2 dough for bottom
- Sprinkle with shaved walnuts & cinnamon
- Use remaining dough for top
- You will have to do it in parts so that the nuts are covered and blend in the seams so it looks like one piece even though it's patch work and work with the dough while hot but not so hot
- Cut into diamond shape but not all the way thru-just the top
- For decoration-dot center with whole cloves
- Bake at 350 for about 2 hours
- Make syrup
- Boil sugar and water for about 20 minutes or until it's a little sticky like syrup and then let cool
- Pour cold syrup while cake is hot
