Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water (115 to 120°F)
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 5 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast.
  2. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Combine flour and salt; stir in yeast mixture until moistened.
  4. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Add flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  6. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease all sides.
  7. Let rise in a draft-free place for about 2 hours.
  8. Punch down the dough.
  9. Cover with an inverted bowl; let rest for 15 minutes.
  10. Divide dough to make 2 crusts.
  11. Cover with your favorite sauce, toppings, and cheese.
  12. Bake in a 425°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
