Quick and customizable pizza pies using pita bread, topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and herbs, perfect for a fun meal for families or snack lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 pita breads
  • 4 cups tomato sauce
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 tsp basil

Instructions

  1. Turn oven to 450°F.
  2. Using scissors, cut circles out of the pita bread, only cutting through the top portion without going all the way through.
  3. Spread tomato sauce on the bread with a spoon.
  4. Grate the mozzarella cheese and pour it over the top of the sauce.
  5. Sprinkle the pies evenly with basil and oregano, then add any extra toppings such as sliced onion, green pepper, zucchini slices, Parmesan cheese, sliced mushrooms, or minced garlic.
  6. Place the pies on a cookie sheet or baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the cheese melts.
  8. Toast the pita bread circle in microwave or toaster and place on top of the pizza before serving.
