Ingredients

  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk.
  2. Mix sugar, eggs, salt, and vanilla, then combine with the scalded milk.
  3. Pour the mixture into custard cups or a baking dish.
  4. Set the cups or dish in a pan of boiling water.
  5. Bake in a slow oven (300°F) until the custard is firm, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Check doneness by inserting a knife blade into the center; it should come out clean.
