Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 4 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • a scant teacupful boiling water
  • flavor

Instructions

  1. Beat the yolks of eggs with two cups of sugar.
  2. Stir in gradually 1 cup of sifted flour and the whites of 4 eggs, beaten stiff, then a cup of sifted flour in which two teaspoons of baking powder has been stirred and lastly, a scant teacupful of boiling water, stirred in a little at a time.
  3. Flavor and add salt. However thin the mixture may seem do not add any more flour.
  4. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes, then 375° for 10 minutes.
