Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • food coloring (yellow, green or red; use as much as desired to make shades you desire. Start with 1 drop.)

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and butter together; add sugar, then eggs. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to batter alternately with milk.
  2. Add flavoring.
  3. Mix batter well.
  4. Separate batter into 3 bowls.
  5. Color each bowl desired colors.
  6. Grease and flour large tube pan.
  7. Pour colored batter alternately into pan; set in cold oven and set at 375° and cook for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° and cook for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
