- Sift self-rising flour and sugar together into a large bowl until lumps are gone.
- Pour in milk and stir well on high speed for 4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir with a whisk or fork.
- Add beaten eggs into the milk mixture. Stir again and cook for 3 more minutes.
- Stir briskly and cook for 1 additional minute.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter.
- Optional: Add coconut to make Coconut Creme Pie or bananas for Banana Pudding.
- Add vanilla wafers and serve.
