Ingredients

  • 5 cups self-rising flour
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1 can (12 oz) beer
  • melted margarine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine self-rising flour and sugar.
  3. Add sour cream and beer alternately to the dry ingredients; mix well until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan or divide into two pans.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes; then brush the top with melted margarine.
  6. Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.
  8. Serve warm, cooled, or toasted as desired.
