Quick Supper Buns are soft, cinnamon-scented rolls filled with currants and raisins, perfect for a fast, comforting snack or light meal for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Use your own biscuit dough or this recipe: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk gradually to form a soft dough.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/3-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. Dot the dough with butter, sprinkle with sugar, dust with cinnamon, currants, and raisins.
  6. Roll up the dough like a jelly roll.
  7. Cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces.
  8. Place the pieces with cut edges on a well-greased pan.
  9. Bake in a moderate oven (about 375°F or 190°C) until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the pan immediately and serve warm.
