Ingredients

  • 2-2/3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon oil
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, water, and Karo syrup in a heavy pan.
  2. Turn on the vent over the stove; open the window if possible due to strong fumes.
  3. Boil the mixture until it reaches the hard crack stage.
  4. Remove from heat and add cinnamon oil and red food coloring.
  5. Stir well; pour into a cookie sheet dusted with powdered sugar.
  6. Allow to cool; then break into small pieces.
