Ingredients

  • 1 gal. cucumbers, peeled, sliced and centers removed
  • 1 c. lime
  • 4 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 2 c. water
  • 7 c. sugar
  • 1 c. red hots

Instructions

  1. Heat the mixture until the red hots are melted.
  2. Pour the hot mixture over sliced cucumbers and let stand overnight.
  3. The next morning, heat the mixture to a boil.
  4. Pour the hot pickles into jars and seal.
