Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lb. domestic or wild rabbit, cut in pieces no larger than 4 oz. each
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 4 oz. wine or beer
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the rabbit pieces.
  2. Melt butter or margarine in a pan and brown the rabbit pieces.
  3. Add salt, pepper, prunes, and wine to the pan.
  4. Cover the pan and place it in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Cook for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, checking every 30 minutes and turning the pieces.
  6. Add water if needed during cooking to keep moist.
