- Cut the bottom off a medium head of garlic, place it on a square of aluminum foil, drizzle 1/2 teaspoon olive oil over it, seal the foil.
- Bake at 375°F for approximately 30 minutes until the garlic is very soft.
- Peel and quarter 1 1/2 pounds of turnips.
- Peel, core, and chop 1 ripe pear.
- Roast garlic cloves until very soft and mash or chop as desired.
- In a mixing bowl, combine turnips, chopped pear, roasted garlic, pepper to taste, and 1 tablespoon margarine.
- Cook or bake the mixture as desired, or serve as a warm side dish.
