Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in water.
- Add sugar, salt and oil to yeast mixture.
- Let sit until frothy.
- Add flours, alternating whole wheat and white.
- (Use as little flour as possible for moister bread.)
- Knead dough 10 to 15 minutes.
- Round off and place in large, greased bowl.
- Place damp cloth on top to keep from drying out.
- Set in warm place (80° to 90°) for about 1 1/2 hours or until dough doubles.
- Divide into loaves and place free-standing on cookie sheet or in greased bread pans.
- Let stand 1/2 hour.
- Bake at 350° for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, according to size and color of loaves.
- Makes four larger loaves or eight small loaves.
