Round Steak Special

Ingredients

  • 1 round steak (1/2 inch thick)
  • salt and pepper
  • flour
  • fat
  • 1 c. sliced onions
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle steak with salt, pepper and flour; pound on both sides with meat pounder or edge of heavy saucer.
  2. In a large, heavy skillet or Dutch oven, brown steak well in a few tablespoons of hot fat.
  3. Top with sliced onions.
  4. Combine tomato sauce with rest of ingredients and pour over meat.
  5. Cover and cook over low heat until tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Watch carefully to prevent sticking.
  7. Add water as tomato sauce cooks away.
  8. Serves 4.
