Ingredients

  • 1 c. Karo (red label)
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Mazola
  • 1 tsp. desired flavoring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt, and Mazola in a saucepan.
  2. Add Karo syrup and water; stir until the mixture boils rapidly.
  3. Boil to 252°F or until a small amount dropped in cold water forms a fairly hard ball. Add flavoring.
  4. Pour the hot mixture onto a large buttered platter.
  5. When cool enough to handle, oil your hands with a little Mazola and pull the mixture into a rope.
  6. Cut into 1-inch pieces to serve.
