Ingredients

  • 2 c. organic flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. arrowroot
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. quarqum
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter (ghee or goat butter)
  • 1 c. milk (more or less)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine organic flour, salt, arrowroot, cream of tartar, quarqum, and baking soda.
  3. Cut in the butter (ghee or goat butter) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add milk, starting with 1 cup, until the dough comes together; add more as needed to form a soft but not sticky dough.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times.
  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut into rounds with a floured biscuit cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with butter or jam.
