Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp solid shortening
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 c milk
  • flour (enough to make a soft dough)
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs, shortening, sugar, salt, vanilla, and baking powder together in a large bowl.
  2. Beat until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Gradually add flour and beat it in, continuing until a very soft dough forms.
  4. Take some of the dough out onto a floured board and knead it a little.
  5. Shape the dough into rounds and bake at 350° to 375° F until lightly browned.
