Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a 10-inch skillet, melt the margarine.
  2. Stir in sugar and cornstarch.
  3. Add the half and half, maple syrup, and vanilla; stir to combine.
  4. Cover over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 6 to 8 minutes).
  5. Place apple halves, cut side down, in the cream mixture.
  6. Cover and continue cooking, spooning sauce over the apples occasionally, until apples are fork-tender.
  7. Remove apples to individual dishes.
  8. Whisk the sauce until smooth with a wire whisk.
  9. Serve the apples topped with the sauce.
