A traditional Slovak Easter cheese dish with a creamy, custard-like texture, flavored with vanilla and sugar. Perfect for festive celebrations or a unique dessert experience.

Ingredients

  • 13 eggs
  • 1 quart milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs lightly so yolks are broken.
  2. Add milk, salt, sugar, and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Pour mixture into a 2-quart casserole and bake in the oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes or until the consistency of custard.
  4. Spoon into cheesecloth and squeeze out excess liquid.
  5. Tie tightly with a cord and hang from an object until well drained, several hours or overnight.
  6. Remove from cheesecloth, refrigerate, then slice and serve with ham.
