Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 2 cups very warm water
  • 1 1/2 sticks oleo (butter), heated
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry yeast with very warm water until dissolved.
  2. Melt the oleo (butter) and add it to the yeast mixture.
  3. Add sugar and egg to the mixture.
  4. Gradually add self-rising flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix thoroughly, optionally using a mixer for convenience.
  6. Transfer the dough to a large airtight container.
  7. Refrigerate the dough and let it rest overnight or for several days.
  8. Bake the rolls at 400°F (200°C) until golden brown.
