Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco or lard
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Soften 1 package dry yeast in 1/4 cup very warm water.
  2. Cut butter and Crisco into the flour and salt mixture until particles are the size of small peas.
  3. Blend in the beaten eggs, sour cream, vanilla, and the softened yeast.
  4. Mix thoroughly. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.
  5. Dough may be stored in the refrigerator up to 4 days and baked as needed.
