Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh or frozen green beans
  • 1 lb. fresh corn, cut off the cob or frozen
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crisp; set aside bacon.
  2. Save bacon drippings.
  3. Bring water to a boil.
  4. Add sugar, salt, and string beans; cook about 10 minutes.
  5. Add corn and bacon drippings; mix.
  6. Cook 5 to 8 minutes longer, or until beans are tender.
  7. Drain and serve with bacon if desired.
