- Into a large bowl, measure flour, butter, vanilla, egg and 1/2 cup sugar.
- With mixer at low speed, beat ingredients until well blended, occasionally scraping bowl with spatula.
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Spoon half of dough into decorating bag with medium rosette tube.
- Pipe dough into 3-inch lengths, about 1-inch apart, onto ungreased cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle cookies lightly with sugar. Bake 6 to 8 minutes until golden.
- Carefully remove cookies to racks to cool.
- Repeat until all dough is used.
- Store in tightly covered container to use up within 1 week.
- Makes about 5 dozen.
