Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening;
  2. add
  3. egg and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and
  4. add
  5. to first mixture with milk. Divide between two greased
  6. and floured layer cake pans.
  7. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
