Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 1/4 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 5 c. white flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Add salt and sugar; stir thoroughly.
  3. Add whole wheat flour first, then blend in white flour.
  4. Make a fairly stiff dough.
  5. Shape the dough into a ball.
  6. Place in a greased bowl and grease the top of the dough.
  7. Cover with a towel and let stand in a warm place until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  9. Divide the dough into 4 small loaves.
