Takuwan
Takuwan is a tangy, sweet, and colorful pickled daikon radish that offers a refreshing crunch, perfect for adding vibrant flavor to Japanese meals and snacks.
Ingredients
- 1 gal. daikon, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 c. Japanese vinegar
- 3 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. Hawaiian salt ⓘ
Instructions
- Peel and slice the daikon and place it in a gallon jar.
- Add Japanese vinegar, white sugar, Hawaiian salt, and yellow food coloring to the jar.
- Close the jar and shake it to mix the ingredients.
- Place the jar in the refrigerator.
- The next day, add more daikon to the jar and shake again to marinate.
- Keep in the refrigerator and wait for 1 week before eating.
