Tiny Apple Turnovers

- Cook apples in a saucepan over low heat about 20 minutes or until tender.
- Combine sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir into apples and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring often.
- Set aside the apple filling.
- Combine 2 cups flour, salt, milk, and 1/2 cup oil in a mixing bowl; stir with a fork until mixture forms a ball.
- Divide the dough in half.
- Roll each ball out on a lightly floured board to 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut out circles with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
- Spoon about 3/4 teaspoon of apple mixture on half of each pastry circle.
- Moisten the edges with water.
- Fold the pastry circles in half and press with a fork to seal.
- Fry turnovers in 1 inch of hot salad oil until lightly browned, turning once.
- Drain on paper towels.
