A rich, crunchy toffee layered with chocolate and walnuts, perfect for sharing during holidays or as a sweet homemade treat for caramel lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/4 cups butter
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring sugar, salt, butter, and water to a boil and continue until hard crack or 300°F on a candy thermometer.
  2. Add walnuts and stir constantly to prevent scorching.
  3. Lightly grease a cookie sheet 15 x 10 x 3/4 inches.
  4. Melt candy bars.
  5. Spread the toffee mixture on the prepared cookie sheet and allow it to cool.
  6. Spread the melted chocolate bars on top of the cooled toffee and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
  7. Cool completely and break into pieces.
