Tips & Substitutions

For best results, use high-quality chocolate chips to achieve a smooth melting texture. If you prefer a nut-free version, substitute sunflower seeds for the peanuts. To enhance the flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt to the caramel mixture. For added indulgence, drizzle some melted chocolate over the bars before chilling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate?

Yes, you can substitute dark chocolate chips for milk chocolate to give the bars a richer flavor. Keep in mind that dark chocolate is less sweet, so you might want to adjust the amount of caramel used for balance.

How do I ensure the chocolate layers don't mix?

To keep the layers distinct, allow each layer to firm up completely in the refrigerator before adding the next. This will prevent them from blending together and create a beautiful layered effect in the finished bars.

Can I add other ingredients to the caramel layer?

Absolutely! You can mix in ingredients like dried fruits, shredded coconut, or even a splash of vanilla extract to the caramel layer for added flavor. Just be cautious not to overload it, as you want the bars to hold their shape.
