Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup Crisco
  • 3/4 to 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cut Crisco into self-rising flour until the mixture resembles peas.
  2. Add milk and mix until the dough is wet.
  3. Add grated Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, then mix to combine.
  4. Dump the dough onto a floured surface.
  5. Knead the dough four times.
  6. Roll or pat out to 1/4 to 1/2-inch thickness.
  7. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits.
  8. Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
