Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 3/4 c. whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle yeast over warm water.
  2. Stir in honey, salt, and 1 1/4 cups of flour.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in remaining flour.
  5. Knead for 10 minutes on a floured surface.
  6. Cover and let rise until double in size, about 15 minutes.
  7. Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal portions.
  8. Shape each piece into a smooth ball, punch a hole into the center, and pull gently to enlarge the hole and make a uniform shape.
  9. Let the shaped bagels rise for 20 minutes.
