Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lb. red onions
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 to 4 drops Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Put sliced red onions in a crockery bowl.
  2. Mix vegetable oil, white vinegar, water, black pepper, salt, sugar, and Tabasco sauce in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour the hot mixture over the onions.
  4. Allow to cool, then cover and refrigerate overnight.
