Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup light Karo syrup
  • 2/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a 2-quart pan, stir together the sugar, light Karo syrup, and water.
  2. Stir steadily while heating the mixture.
  3. Cook until the temperature reaches 310°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Gently stir in 1 dram of oil flavoring from the drugstore.
  6. Add your choice of regular food coloring.
  7. Line a cookie sheet or aluminum foil pan with lightly buttered paper or foil.
  8. Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared pan.
  9. Allow it to cool until hard, then mark with a knife or break into pieces with a knife handle.
