Ingredients

  • 1 peck tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 or 3 stalks celery
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 pt. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Cook
  2. tomatoes,
  3. pepper, onion, and celery all together until soft.
  4. Drain
  5. off water overnight.
  6. Then strain through sieve or food
  7. mill.
  8. To
  9. this add sugar, vinegar, spices and salt.
  10. Boil for
  11. 10 minutes, pour into bottles and seal.
  12. For hot catsup,
  13. add 1/8 teaspoon red pepper and 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard.
