Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening together.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time.
  3. Sift flour and add alternately with milk to the batter.
  4. Add vanilla.
  5. Grease and flour 9-inch cake pans.
  6. Pour 1/2 cup batter in each pan.
  7. Bake at 375° until light brown.
  8. Cool on cake racks.
