Ingredients

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2/3 cup cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed or celery salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 onion

Instructions

  1. Boil vinegar, cooking oil, salt, dry mustard, celery seed or celery salt, sugar, and sliced onion together.
  2. Add the hot mixture to sliced green and red cabbage halves.
  3. Pour the hot mixture over the cabbage and do not stir for 2 hours.
  4. Best served on the second day, and can be refrigerated for up to 30 days.
