Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups packaged biscuit mix
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup cherry preserves

Instructions

  1. Combine biscuit mix, milk, and almond extract in a bowl.
  2. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead gently 8 to 10 strokes.
  3. Roll dough into a 12 x 7-inch rectangle.
  4. Spread with softened butter.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over the dough.
  6. Roll up the dough starting with the long side, then seal the seam.
  7. Cut into 1-inch slices.
  8. Place slices on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Flatten slightly with the palm of your hand.
  10. Make a large depression in the center of each with your fingers.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
  12. Spoon 1 tablespoon of cherry preserves into the center of each roll.
