Apple Cider Ice
Ingredients
- 10 cups unfiltered apple cider
- Peel of 1 orange
- 2 cinnamon sticks ⓘ
- Large pinch grated nutmeg ⓘ
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/2 cup Calvados or apple brandy ⓘ
- 2 1/2 cups sugar syrup (2 cups water and 1/2 cup sugar, heated until sugar dissolves) ⓘ
- 4 cups sparkling cider ⓘ
- 4 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
- In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all the ingredients.
- Heat until the mixture begins to simmer.
- Decrease to medium low heat and let the mixture steep and reduce (but do not let boil) to 8 cups, about 1 hour.
- Refrigerate until cold.
- Pour reduced liquid into a shallow pan.
- Freeze, stirring every 1/2 hour, until hard, about 3 to 4 hours.
