Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup red hot cinnamon candies
  • few drops red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples, leaving them whole, then slice into 1/2-inch slices.
  2. Set aside the apple slices.
  3. Mix together water, sugar, red hot cinnamon candies, and red food coloring in a saucepan.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Drop the apple slices into the boiling syrup.
  6. Simmer until tender, about 10 to 12 minutes.
  7. Remove the apple rings from the syrup.
  8. Serve as an accompaniment to any type of wild meat.
