Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 2/3 to 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place 1 1/2 cups sugar and water in a 13 x 9-inch oblong pan. Cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the dough by combining sifted flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, shortening, and milk to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  4. Place chopped apples mixed with cinnamon and butter in the center of each dough square.
  5. Wrap the dough around the apple filling, sealing edges well.
  6. Place the filled apple rolls in the prepared pan with the sugar and water syrup.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with a drizzle of the syrup from the pan.
