Ingredients

  • 4 Jonathan apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 Jonared apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pot, combine apples, apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, grated lemon rind, lemon juice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes, stirring once or twice.
  3. Uncover and cook until apples are tender.
  4. Partially mash the apples to leave the mixture chunky.
  5. Let cool, then refrigerate before serving.
