Aromatic Lamb Roast

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless lamb shoulders
  • 2 tbsp kecap manis (thick sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 piece (1/2 inch) fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 None red pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 1 1/3 lbs gai lan (Chinese broccoli), coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Cook the lamb in a heated oiled wok until browned. Place the lamb on an oiled wire rack in a roasting pan. Brush with combined kecap manis, sesame seeds and half of the garlic.
  3. Roast for about 25 mins or until cooked to desired doneness. Let stand, loosely covered with foil, 5 mins, then slice thickly.
  4. Meanwhile, heat the oil in the same wok on high heat. Stir-fry the ginger and remaining garlic until fragrant. Add the pepper, gai lan, and combined oyster sauce, lime juice and 2 tbsp water; stir-fry until the gai lan is just wilted. Serve the lamb on the gai lan mixture.
