  • 1 can Eagle Brand milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans

Instructions

  1. Melt the milk chocolate in a double boiler until all is smooth.
  2. Add the can of Eagle Brand milk, vanilla, and pecans.

  4. Set in refrigerator until almost firm.
  5. Cut into pieces and put back in refrigerator; let set and cut again.

Tips & Substitutions

For a smoother fudge, ensure the chocolate is melted gently over low heat to avoid burning. If you don't have pecans, walnuts or almonds can be great substitutes. Additionally, adding a pinch of salt enhances the chocolate flavor. For a twist, consider mixing in dried fruits or crushed cookies for added texture, similar to what you might find in Chocolate-Berry Layer Cake.

Serving Suggestions

Aunt Mae's Fudge makes a delightful treat on its own but pairs beautifully with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Consider serving it alongside Choco-Peanut Ring Cookies for a sweet platter. For parties, cut it into small squares and place them in decorative paper cups for an elegant presentation.

Storage & Reheating

To store leftovers, place the fudge in an airtight container lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking. It can be refrigerated for up to two weeks. For best texture, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving. Avoid freezing, as it may alter the fudge's creamy consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate?

Yes, you can substitute dark chocolate for a richer flavor. Just keep in mind that the sweetness will decrease, so you may want to add a little extra sugar or adjust the other ingredients to taste.

Is there a way to make this fudge dairy-free?

Absolutely! You can use dairy-free chocolate and a plant-based milk alternative to replace the Eagle Brand milk. Look for condensed coconut milk as a suitable alternative to maintain the creamy texture.

How thick should the fudge be when I set it?

The fudge should be set enough to hold its shape but still slightly soft to the touch. Once it's firm enough to cut, you can refrigerate it longer if you prefer a more solid texture.
