Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or sage to the sausage layer. If you prefer a sweeter note, try using honey or maple syrup instead of dark brown sugar. You can also substitute the pork sausages with chicken or turkey sausage for a lighter option. Adjust the baking time if using different sausage types, ensuring they are fully cooked through.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the baked sausages in a chafing dish with toothpicks or cocktail forks for easy eating. Pair with a fresh salad or roasted vegetables, such as Delightful Green Beans, for a balanced meal. This dish also makes a hearty appetizer at gatherings, perfect alongside American recipes like Rhoda Sandwiches.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the sausages and fruit mixture in a baking dish, cover with foil, and warm in a preheated oven at 300°F until heated through. Avoid microwaving as it may dry out the sausages.
